Please help keep our wedding safe.
The health and safety of our friends and family is our top priority. Because of family immuno-compromised status, we ask you to take some specific precautions to be able to join us on this day.
In the seven days before joining us:
-
If you're feeling ill or test positive for COVID-19, the flu, or other contagious respiratory illnesses, please stay home.
-
If you've been around anyone ill with a contagious respiratory illness, please stay home.
-
Please avoid crowded events, large gatherings, indoor bars and restaurants, or other places where people gather unmasked.
-
Please wear a well-fitted, high-quality mask (like an N-95 or similar quality) in indoor spaces with others, or crowded outdoor spaces.
-
If you're flying or taking public transit to be with us, please mask on the plane, in the airport, and any other indoor or crowded outdoor spaces.
-
Make sure others in your household (or anyone you spend time with unmasked) also follows these guidelines.
At least two weeks before joining us:
-
Make sure you've gotten updated vaccines for both COVID-19 and the flu.
It takes about two weeks to get the full benefits of protection from vaccines.
-
If you haven't gotten an updated COVID-19 vaccine since September 2024, please do so ASAP!
The updated shot is better protection against currently circulating strains.
-
And please get this year's flu vaccine as well.
These are updated every year; new ones came out in September 2024 as well.
FAQs
Should I take a COVID-19 test before attending your wedding?
You are welcome to test if you’d like, but we aren’t specifically requesting it. The rapid antigen tests (RAT) that are most commonly available over-the-counter aren’t very reliable for detecting COVID in people who have asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infections – in other words, you could get a negative result and still very possibly be infectious. If you’re having symptoms, we unfortunately ask that you kindly stay home regardless of test results.
What precautions will be in place at the event?
Weather permitting, we’ll be holding as many events as possible outdoors. For indoor events, we’ll be having doors and windows remain open for airflow and running HEPA filters indoors.
Will you give out cool masks in the wedding colors?
Absolutely.
Where can I learn more?
The People’s CDC has lots of user-friendly information about testing, masking, and making gatherings safer.
You can get a sense of current risk levels by looking at wastewater data. Locally, look at Chapel Hill - Carrboro and the rest of NC here.
Read research on common COVID-19 myths at You Have To Live Your Life.
Find vaccine options at your doctor’s office, local pharmacies, or here.
I still have questions!
